Mental Health Awareness Week 2026
Each year Mental Health week has a different theme and in 2026, the theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is Belonging Matters.
With support from Te Whatu Ora Mental Health Awareness week aims to shine a light on positive mental health and encourage people to adopt simple, everyday actions that boost wellbeing.
We spend a huge part of our lives at work alongside the people we work with every day and while we may not always know what someone is dealing with outside of work, a small check-in, a bit of understanding or simply making time for someone can make a bigger difference than we realise. Let this be your reminder to take a moment to look around your workplace and check in with your peers. Is there someone you haven’t checked in with recently? Is there someone who might appreciate a coffee? Or perhaps someone who has been doing a great job who deserves to hear it.
You never really know what difference a small gesture might make.
